Cowboy Room on a Dime

First, let me say this is my old blog, Tips and Snippets, that I renamed to include more of my current projects and re-dos. All of the old content is still here but this is my first post as Pretty Purple Treasures, which is also my facebook page where I sell some of my finds and re-dos.

I have a 4 year old cowboy, or so he thinks, so this is the room I did for him.

His name framed was a $2.00 frame, no art was in it, but it had a back which I needed.  I painted the back of the frame the same color as the wooden toy box in the room and used a high temp glue gun and glued cut sections of rope to make his name.  I had to use heavy things to lay on top of the letters for a few minutes or the glue popped right up.

Cheap Art!  L to R:  Horse with colt picture was .60 in a plastic frame and I put it in a  .50 wooden frame that I painted brown. The little carved horse was $4.00, I love it!  The top picture was .25, it originally came from Dollar Tree and the frame is a painted thrift store 1.00 frame.  I made the star and moon, maybe not cowboy but it matches.  Maybe about $3.00 in supplies for that one, but more steps than the other pieces.  The next picture is art made by Vance's big brother, Kohen a few years ago, because he loved horses even at 2.  The other is a wild west cowboy scene that was in a such a dirty frame that you couldn't really tell what it was, but I saw potential. I cleaned it up and popped in a another frame, $1.00 total.  It is one of my favorite things in the room. The horse head book ends was a real find.  I paid $3.99 each and spray painted them with Oil Rubbed Bronze, but they have a high dollar nice look, I love them too!
Its really hard to say what my best thirft store score for this room was.  The guns at $1.99 each  gets Vance's vote.  They were brass so I just spray painted them.  The cowboy hat that hold his vest and chaps was $1.00 or cheaper, I can't even remember.
The most expensive piece of the room, $10.00 for the mirror!  The shelf was .75  and  it went from scratched black paint to brown.
I found these old Avon Cologne bottles at the thrift store for less than $2.00 and a few white horses.  I had the metal pieces in my craft stash from years ago and I have no idea why ?!  But they came in handy here!
I hope you can find some ideas you can use!
