17 Thrift Store Upcycles-My Hometalk Board

I was excited when Hometalk asked me to curate a board of very cheap repurposed projects, it was like they knew me so well!  I focused on home decor and things that everyone either already has at home or that are easy to find in thrift stores. Lots of fun things to try for you and me!

Upcycled and Repurposed Projects

Which ones are you going to try?
I will be making my own jadeite jars soon and a photo clock, but I'm also going to deck out my porch this spring with flowers in straw bags, and of course I'll save all my shoebox lids from this point forward. I could kick myself for getting rid of my kid's refrigerator letters and I think I leave more notes than iron so why not a memo board with hooks?  There's more of course.....

Repurposed Hanging Wall Organizer

I've made a few repurposed hall trees and wanted to make another one but I was out of legs so this is what I came up with and I'm calling it a hanging wall organizer.  It is made of 100% repurposed parts from the thrift store.  You can see the parts in the second photo below.

This is a terrible shot but you can see the parts as I was trying to figure it all out.  I added the board to attach the basket and the molding piece at the top for stability, in addition I added pocket hole screws to connect the shutter to the shelf on top.

I have another larger one assembled but have to figure out colors and the mirror for it.

Red Tables

I wanted to share my red tables with you. I bought both of the table bases with no tops at an estate auction. My absolute favorite part of the estate auction is when they move to the garage or shed at the end of the day, that is the good stuff! I took some very old gray wood and made new tops.  The pieced top came about only because of a shortage of wood, but it was my favorite, so hooray for wood shortages.

Here is what the tops looked like before they were sanded and stained or finished.

I used a stain, vinegar stain and raw wood to create the different colors in the finished product.

The Quotes on the Chalkboards are songs by Walk the Moon and Michael Franti, both are worth a listen. The color is less orangey in person, more red pepper which is the name of the paint by Behr.

I love doing this kind of project and can't wait to find more table bases and great wood! Stay tuned for more projects!
